Humidity and warmth are ideal for the growth of fungi .
An interplay of different factors influences the growth of fungi: humidity, temperature, pH value and the existence of nutrient are the main influence criteria. ,
Depending of the type fungi can prosper even at a low humidity and water activity without any influence of oxygen and light. Those fungi can dispose almost every natural occurring carbon combination. Hangings, colours, biological waste, wood and everything what is from an organic origin represents a potential source for nutrition for fungi. Furthermore fungi is able to absorb nutrient from the air for example dust or fatty acids from the kitchen.
In buildings different sources of humidity, which promote the growth of mildew and fungi often arise through wrong venting, structural damages and erosion. The avoidance of those can be seen as a fundamental factor to prevent the growth of fungi.
